After DV and his parents invited Mina’s family on a trip to India, DV decided that his family home in Jagjitnagar (a small town in the Himalayas) would be the perfect place to propose. Both families would only be overlapping for two days of the trip, so he made sure everyone coordinated their schedules to be in the Himalayas at the same time. To plan the logistics of the proposal, DV enlisted the help of his mother and sisters. By the time DV and Mina got to the house the night before, the garden was beautifully decorated with marigolds and they found a perfect spot where the families could shower down flowers on the couple once she said “oui”. This also meant everyone had to keep Mina from going outside with various excuses about strange Himalayan animals that only come out at night. When the day finally came, DV got dressed up and went downstairs where everyone was having breakfast. He had to get Mina out by herself, so he made up a story about how he wanted her to come with him to see a local temple. Once she went up to get ready, DV asked Mina’s father how to say “will you marry me” in French. DV’s first attempt sounded like he would be asking her to push him rather than asking her to be his wife (voulez-vous "me pousser?" vs "m'épouser?") which her father quickly corrected. When Mina came down, DV took her outside - with a small hiccup when DV's nephew, Shaan, stopped them with a smile and a long stick yelling "I know where you are going" while DV motioned at him to not say anything. Mina then started running ahead of DV towards the garden and, not wanting her to see the decorations before he popped the question, he told her he needed to go ahead of her since there may be snakes. When they finally rounded a corner of the garden wall, he asked her to close her eyes and one of their favorite songs "Samjhawan" started playing. When she opened her eyes, DV was on one knee with the ring and asked her "Voulez-vous m'épouser?".
