The Michigan Central Station

The History of Michigan Central Station
Located in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood, Michigan Central Station is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Opened in 1913, the station was designed by the same architects behind New York City’s Grand Central Terminal and quickly became a symbol of Detroit’s growth and innovation.
For decades, millions of travelers passed through its grand halls during Detroit’s booming automotive era. Its beautiful Beaux-Arts architecture, soaring ceilings, and timeless design made it one of the most recognizable train stations in the country.
After closing in 1988, the station remained vacant for many years before being restored by Ford Motor Company beginning in 2018. Today, it stands as a symbol of Detroit’s resilience, revival, and future.
We are so excited to celebrate our wedding in such a historic and meaningful place and to share this special Detroit landmark with our family and friends!
