We met at West Virginia State University at a time when our lives were heading in completely different directions; he had just graduated and was preparing to return to Florida after 4 years of college football, while I was just beginning my journey as an international student in the U.S. Coming from two different parts of the world (Love, born in Haiti and raised in Florida, and Yasmeen, Syrian, born and raised in Dubai), we found so much beauty in learning about each other’s cultures, traditions, and values. Somewhere along the way, our friendship grew into something even deeper. We began to see a future together, one we couldn’t imagine living without. In December 2023, Love traveled with his parents, brother, and sister to meet my family in Dubai, UAE. Our loved ones connected so naturally, and on that same trip, he proposed to spend forever. It was a moment that reflected everything we had built together: love, trust, and the blending of two worlds into one. Since then, life has been a beautiful journey. Through it all, he has been my constant, my support system, my partner, and my backbone in everything. And now, we can’t wait to begin the next chapter of our story… together.
