Our storyOur story

2015

Our story slowly started back in 2015 when we met working in Woodland. While bonding through the hectic workplace, we learned that we had so much in common. From our similar interests in movies, video games, SpongeBob jokes, and all things nerdy, we became friends easily. Many social media liked photos later, Ken builds up the courage to express his interest in me in my DMs. While I also had interest in him, I was not emotionally ready to be in a new relationship at that time. We remained friends for the time being.

The First DateThe First Date

November 2017

Fast forward to November 2017, we began talking more about hanging out outside of work. Since we were friends, why not right? Our first “outing” together was at Dave and Busters, I didn’t think of it as a date at the time (to him it was lol) but I could not help but fall for his charm. At the end of the night and walking me back to my car, we shared our first kiss and have been inseparable ever since. Fun fact Ken never asked me to be his girlfriend. He just started introducing me as his girlfriend and I went with it 😂 I was happy with it though. It wasn’t until Valentine’s Day of 2018 that we made it “Facebook Official”. It felt good knowing this was turning into something serious.

The ProposalThe Proposal

Valentine’s Day 2025

7 YEARS LATER….. For Valentine’s Day of 2025 we (I actually) planned to take a weekend trip to Monterey. (Monterey was our very first road trip together back in 2018 after I told him that I’ve never been to the aquarium so he took me for the first time.) We’ve been wanting to go back to our old stomping ground so we made plans to spend the day at the aquarium. While I had my suspicion that maybe he’d propose during our trip, I did not want to get my hopes up and kept convincing myself that he wouldn’t. We walked around the aquarium for a bit and took some pictures. After a while Ken said let’s step outside. We had the outdoor area of the aquarium all to ourselves. No one was around. I’m looking over the edge of the pier admiring the waves and getting distracted by a sign talking about a rock in the water where birds like to land. I was so distracted looking for a rock in the water but little did I know… there was one behind me. Ken tells me to turn around and there he was down on one knee with a beautiful ring he picked for me. A private and intimate proposal just for us. He asks me to marry him and was the easiest “yes” I’ve ever given.
