I first saw Stephanie’s name in 2011 at work as a new hire to setup her workstation. I didn't actually meet her until a few years later in 2014, on a Saturday when working on some network issues. Stephanie was there for testing the changes we were making, and to my surprise she knew what was going on. When I told her what trouble we were running into she came up with the right way to do a solid work around to get the circuit to work. Our Corporate IT team did not listen to us, but it was nice to talk to someone with knowledge in what I do at work. And the best part of this meeting was that I didn't have to translate the technical to civilian terms! I thought, what an INTERESTING GIRL! Fast forward to October 2016… just before I moved to Phoenix we went to lunch a few times, and after getting to know her better I knew I wanted to ask her out to dinner. So when I was in town for a few weeks for work in June last year, I finally got up the nerve to ask her out and I did. Her response was a surprising, “like on a date? and “are you sure?”, and I said. “YES. YES I AM.” Our first attempt at going out was thwarted with her neighbors gas leak that turned off the gas main to her neighborhood, but all turned out well. We went out the next night and had a great time. A little fine dining and great desert restaurant was a great first date. Even though I live in Phoenix and was only here for two weeks, I took a chance and asked her out a few more times while I was still in town. I think she liked it, because after almost a year of long distance dating, she said yes to marrying me on April 29th atop a mountain in front of an AWESOME Waterfall!
I waited 50 years for the right man to enter my life. But at the same time I wasn't looking for anyone. I was content in my singleness; I have great friends, two crazy corgis, and a very demanding job. Who needed to add dating chaos to that already chaotic world? So when I met Ron at work a few years ago, I thought nothing about dating him. Then one day last June he popped up in my cube at the office and asked me on a date. I hadn't dated in almost seven years, so I was surprised and then immediately nervous. I immediately called my Mom and told her, "I have a date!," I mentioned how nervous I was, and couldn't understand how it all happened. My Mom asked me what I was so nervous about and I said, "what if he wants to kiss me?!?." I hadn’t had a romantic kiss in years! So date night arrived, and to make matters worse on my nerves, on our way to dinner his daughter called and not just called, but she called using FACETIME! First, he answered the call - that clearly should have been my first Red Flag on how this night was going to go. Secondly, he turned the phone around so his daughter could see me! RED FLAG! RED FLAG!. . . but I endured the torture of the unknown and went on with the night - FULL STEAM AHEAD! So much steam that we went out 7 more times during his 2 weeks in town for work.... and yes, I was right to be nervous about that first kiss! Good thing he took charge on date night number two - it was so worth it! My life has been topsy-turvey ever since, and now, a year later, we are getting MARRIED! LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN!
Wedding Bells rang out on Saturday, October 13, 2018. We wed at Robert's Crossing in Salem Oregon in front of 75 guests. We served Lamb Chops and the most DELICIOUS Lemon Buttermilk Cake! After the festivities, we packed the corgis in the car and headed to Arizona where we are now living in Maricopa as newlyweds. It's been an exciting few months, and we both look forward to what life has to bring us. LIVE! LAUGH! LOVE! It's GOOD for the SOUL!
