ONCE UPON A TIME..in Hialeah. Josue was hired at a community mental health center, where Yanelissa was already working at. He was asked to shadow her on his first day. She met up with him but she was NOT what he expected her to be when he spoke to her on the phone LOL. Nonetheless, he completed the training and started work in her department. Time passed and they developed a co-worker friendship that included an occasional lunch and daily colada (it is Hialeah). As Josue became comfortable in the office, he started to make coladas for everyone (he doesn’t even drink coffee!). Every day after lunch, the two of them and their co-workers, toasted with coladas made by Josue. With time their friendship grew closer. While Yanelissa was finishing her Masters, they became such good friends Josue even created a countdown to graduation to keep her motivated. Although both denied their feelings for each other, eventually, they decided to take a leap and go on a date. Since then, they have been inseparable! They've traveled all over Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and many other places. A commonality that brings them together is their passion for helping others, especially in mental health. The two work in the mental health field and whole-heartedly love their jobs. Although they work at different capacities and with different populations, it's a common topic that brings them together. Another shared passion is their love for God and wanting to grow spiritually to become better Christians. Josue planned a surprise proposal in NYC in March 2020, but COVID had other plans. They were forced to cancel their trip. On July 31, 2020, Josue decided to get down on one knee at Pinecrest Gardens and ask Yanelissa to marry him. She had no idea! Josue had his family and friends present and her family on Facetime for the surprise engagement. For this reason we decided on a virtual wedding. COVID may have stopped the original engagement plan but won't stop their love or upcoming union!
