As much as we would love to call it love at first sight, it was just the opposite. We were working at Evo Entertainment in Kyle, TX. Shane was working in the restaurant as a bartender trying to find his place in life. Likewise, Yancey was working the box office selling movie tickets for block busters like Avengers, Toy Story, and most memorably, Disneys “Coco”. Why was “Coco” memorable you ask ? Shane and his mom had a date to see it, and he knew exactly who he had to get the tickets from, *Yancey*. He joked with his mom about Yancey being his girlfriend. His mom laughed and said “does she know that?” To which he replied, “nope”. Several shifts and days passed and Shane knew he needed to make a move. He gained the confidence at the end of a long shift to ask her in passing “how did your day go?” A simple question, almost guaranteed to warrant a response. Yancey dismissed him, shrugging her shoulders letting out the quickest “good” he had ever heard. He panicked and left the scene. A month or so passed, and unbeknownst to him, the kitchen manager was her cousin. He asked him for her name, he responded “Yancey.” Shane reacted just how everyone reacts who hears her name for the first time. Days passed and one day Shane did not have a single guest visit him at the bar. This certainly wasn’t a good day for his wallet, but would result in one of the most memorable days of their lives. They spent the day chatting about life, interest, and each other. Shane handed over his phone and got Yancey's phone number ( this time without putting up as much of a fight) As for the rest of the story, we believe we have kept each and every one of you up to date. Let’s just say, thank God nobody came to visit the bar that day.
