How We Met

If You Ask Kenneth: Our journey started when I moved back to Orlando after transferring from Lake Mary to work in the Lake Nona area. Starting my new job, I was a bit skeptical, asking myself if I would like this new change. I had a deep conversation with my dad and brought up the idea of leaving Lake Nona to go back to my previous job. My dad told me something I will carry with me for the rest of my life; “son, comfort is the enemy of growth. Although it might seem difficult at this moment, you don’t know the blessings life may hold for you behind this door you’re about to open. Give it a shot. In the end, if you still feel like this is not the right fit, at least you know you’ve tried”. I thank my dad for his words of advice and encouragement, because one week later, I met a girl who I fell in love with from the moment I saw her. Yamiely was not easy to talk to at first, as she was very reluctant to talking to a total stranger, let alone a guy she didn’t know - as she was coming to the end of her previous relationship. I would try making jokes with her and asking her about how her day was going or how her weekends were, only to receive a short, dry response to get me to leave. Well as you all know that plan did not work in her favor. After much perseverance and consistency, she FINALLY gave me a shot to hang out. The rest is history. In these past 5 years, my life with Yamiely has been nothing short of amazing. Traveling together to many different places and experiencing the blessings and achievements of personal life goals as well as celebrating goals of our loved ones will always be some of those memories I will cherish forever. Nothing beats being able to experience the wonders of life with a significant other by your side. Not only has Yamiely helped me mature and grow in every aspect (she has ALOT of patience), but she is also the bearer of the greatest gift life has ever given me - the blessing of our daughter Kehlany. What I used to call a house; I now call a home because of them. She sure does keep us on our toes, but life has never been better. It’s crazy to think how far we’ve come these past 5 years, and I can say without a doubt in my mind, I am beyond grateful that God placed her in my path. I will choose you in this life and the next, and just know that I’m beyond excited to see where our God leads our lives and guides us as a family for the rest of our days.

If You Ask Yamiely

Our love story began in 2019 at AdventHealth Hospital, where I had been working for a couple months when Kenny joined the team later that year. From the moment I met him, I was struck by his infectious energy and warmth; he truly embodies what I like to call "golden retriever vibes." Kenny's radiant smile and positive spirit were constants in our early morning shifts, often making me question how anyone could be so cheerful at 6:00 AM. Initially, I kept my distance, skeptical of his seemingly boundless enthusiasm. As time went on, I noticed how he effortlessly brightened the day for everyone around him. His charming pick-up lines—like “Hi, I have a sister your age”—were amusing yet puzzling to me at first. What I didn’t realize was that this was his unique way of breaking the ice and forging a connection. Despite my initial reservations, Kenny’s kindness and genuine concern for others slowly won me over. He would often notice when I was feeling overwhelmed with work or school and took the time to listen and offer thoughtful advice. He would take the time to listen and offer wise advice, which made him one of my favorite people at work. As our friendship blossomed, I found myself sharing stories about him with my mom and sister. To my surprise, my older sister recognized his name; they had worked together in the past! This revelation led Kenny to invite us both out for dinner. I remember feeling shy outside of our work environment, but Kenny’s persistence shone through; he asked me out again after our first date, and I’m so grateful he did. Through all of life's challenges, Kenny has continued to shine brightly and spread positivity. Together, we were blessed with our wonderful daughter, Kehlany, who has only deepened our love for one another. With Kenny by my side, I have become a better person—a more motivated mother and a stronger individual—thanks to his wholehearted support and encouragement. We are not just building our own little family; we are also blending our families—the Guerra's and the Reyes'—into one loving unit. With amazing parents who inspire us daily and sisters who love us fiercely, we feel incredibly fortunate. As we approach our wedding day, I am filled with joy at the thought of spending my life with such an adventurous, bright, and dedicated partner. Here’s to creating countless more beautiful memories together!
