We met at a Boise State tailgate on the very first game of the 2021 season, where the Broncos defeated the UTEP Miners 54-13. From the start, we became best friends, sharing laughs, cheering for the Broncos, and enjoying every moment together. Michael was immediately on Team "Date Whitney," but Whitney was firmly on Team "Just Friends." Over our senior year, Michael won Whitney over with sweet gestures--hot chocolate dates, surprise flowers, homemade guacamole, being her date to sorority formals, and nights spent dancing downtown. Slowly, friendship turned into something more. When we eventually started dating, we filled our time with little adventures that made us fall for each other even more--fishing trips, camping weekends, dinners in downtown Boise (as adults this time, not at the college bars), pottery painting dates, and rounds of mini golf that always ended in laughter. We also made trips to visit each other's hometowns. From Rocklin, where Michael got to enjoy California wine, to New Year's in Tucson, where we explored the Desert Museum and an ostrich farm--complete with a hilarious moment when Whitney was "attacked" by a flock of lorikeets. Our adventures eventually led to the most unforgettable moment of all--our engagement. Michael proposed on Lake Pend Oreille in Sandpoint, while we were fishing. Whitney had absolutely no idea it was coming, which made the moment even more magical. After savoring that special, intimate time together by the water, we celebrated with family, sharing the excitement and joy of this new chapter in our lives. From that first tailgate to today, every day together has been an adventure, and we can't wait for all the ones to come.
