Mercier is a STAPLE for a blue ridge trip! It's a picturesque, 300-acre orchard started in 1943 & with a variety of pick-your-own seasonal fruits. The market is amazing with yummy pastries and pies. On the other side is a brewery where you can get some tastings!
Float, kayak and tubing trips on the Toccoa River in Blue Ridge and McCaysville are better suited to families with smaller kids. Tubing is available on the upper Toccoa in Blue Ridge above the Lake Blue Ridge Dam, and the lower Toccoa in McCaysville. There are also rafting and kayak or canoeing float trips on the Toccoa for kids over five years of age.

This is a moderate level hike with a beautiful waterfall! The upper portion of Fall Branch Falls is a series of cascades that lead to a single major drop of some 30 feet, with the water plunging into a deep pool at the base of the falls.

Don’t miss the train! Take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, which runs along the Toccoa River from Blue Ridge to McCaysville. Board the train at the historic depot in Blue Ridge and ride in beautifully restored train cars. The view changes with the seasons — wildflowers and mountain laurel in the spring, rhododendron in the summer and gorgeous foliage in the fall.
