The first time Elise and Jake officially met, they were playing pick-up basketball after church in the student rec center at the University of Florida. Elise and her friend, Hope Donow, went up to Jake and introduced themselves. Mind you, Elise had been waiting for this moment for quite some time, as months before she had noticed him at a Christian retreat for incoming freshman at UF (she was a counselor, he was... a "camper"). After they met playing basketball, they would run into each other at church, game nights, and sometimes they even played on the same team for church sporting events. When Elise's brother Easton came to UF, the three of them had played on a volleyball team for a church event together (they got to the championship!). Still, Elise and Jake were just acquaintances. After about a year and a half, Jake finally got his act together to ask Elise on a date in January 2024. He told her that he knew if he decided to date her, they would work out. Turns out, Jake was right! They enjoyed many trips together... in their first year of dating, they had been together to several cities and states: Marco Island FL, Tallahassee FL, Fargo ND, Cape Cod MA, Boston MA, Reston VA, Charleston SC, St. Augustine FL, and many more! But their most frequented destination was Marco Island (where Elise grew up). Jake decided to ask Elise to marry him on the beach in Marco Island, and it was the sweetest day of their lives! And now, they are going to get married on Marco Island, too! As they step into their lives together, they ask that you would lift them up in prayer. Please pray for their marriage, their new life in Texas, and for God’s hand to be over it all!
