The Chase

#Christina's Perspective

Initially looking for a personal trainer and trainee relationship, Christina and Xavier met as most young people did in the early 2000s through social media. Their conversation online was fun easy going and carefree, and when they learned about each other's history in Track and Field, they planned to meet in person. The first date was at a local Mexican restaurant for chips, dips, and few cheap drinks. The conversation went from easy-going to bragging, and Christina was done! Christina said she would never speak to Xavier again. Little did she know Xavier had other plans. He escorted her home, and insisted the evening continued with a few games of pool. He wanted to end on a high note. After Xavier left, Christina did not call him again for 2 years. It is now Christina's turn to chase. After the time apart, Christina randomly came across Xavier's number. She called him up and asked if he remembered her. Without hesitation, he said, "Yeah, I know who you are." She asked him out to dinner to catch up. They eventually started their personal trainer-trainee relationship which bloomed into an unbreakable bond. Over 10 years, they started building their relationship, and have been together ever since.

Persistence Pays Off

#Xavier's Perspective

The first time I saw Christina online, I thought she was cute. I jumped in her DM's and waited for the inevitable response. Starting the conversation, I persuaded her to meet me at my favorite Mexican restaurant without any hesitation. Too bad it was awkward. I could tell she wasn't into me. Still, I was determined to change my fate. I wouldn't let her get away; every-time she tried to end the date, I suggested we do something else, and she would reluctantly accept. It was apparent she was fighting her true feelings and going against nature. The date lasted into the night, then we finally parted ways. I didn't hear from her anymore, and I had moved on with my life. Two years later, I got a call from an unknown number. I don't know why. Maybe it was fate, but I decided to answer, and low and behold, it was her on the other line. The first thought that came to my head was, "I guess that n*gga dumped her, and now she running back to a real n*gga." She actually asked me out on a date this time. At this point, I was at the height of my "player pimp phase," so I was gonna diss her, but I said, "why not?" I planned to go out one more time and show her what she missed out on. Little did I know that this was gonna be the beginning of forever with us; we went out on that date. After years of fighting, arguments, hurt feelings, and break-ups, we are finally saying I do.

Our Love

Our relationship continues to grow through the passion that we have learned that cultivate in one another. Taking little opportunities to thrill, encourage intimacy and express sensuality forever will burn the concupiscence we have for our love. What started as coal has endured the pressure of time and now shines brighter than any diamond. Hard work, patients, and trust are the foundational supports that keep our love growing. At the epiphany of our passion, we welcome our family and friends to share in this joyous occasion.
