Lizbeth and Xavier’s story began in 2021 at the Catholic Newman Center during their college years. Although Xavier may not remember their very first encounter, Lizbeth certainly does—she noticed the handsome guy carrying a guitar around . Through mutual friends, music ministry, and many small conversations, the two slowly grew closer. After texting for some time, they went on their first date at the Christmas light parade in 2022 before eventually parting ways as Xavier graduated and moved home. Though they remained friends, neither expected their story was only beginning. A few months later, Lizbeth moved to Lubbock after graduating, and the two met for coffee. Their friendship quickly rekindled and soon grew into something more. In March 2024, they officially began dating. On June 17, 2025, during one of their weekly visits for adoration at Christ the King Cathedral, Xavier led Lizbeth to the front of the altar and surprised her by getting down on one knee. Completely shocked, Lizbeth kept repeating, “You’re lying!” before joyfully saying yes.
