Question

Why Vidalia, GA?

Answer

As frequent travelers, it’s no surprise that our first thoughts for a wedding location included beautiful islands and dreamy destinations that could have made for a stunning backdrop. But as we envisioned our day, we realized that the most important part of our celebration wasn’t the scenery—it was having our family and loved ones there with us. With that in mind, we turned our focus to places that have shaped our lives and hold deep meaning to us. For Atia, that meant Durham, NC, and the surrounding areas—a city that became her foundation as she attended college and began to discover herself as a woman. For Xavier, that meant Statesboro, GA, and the surrounding areas—his college town, where he found his footing, shaped his future, and stepped into the man he wanted to become. These places are more than just dots on a map; they’re pieces of our story and the backdrop of who we are today. Through our search, we toured venues across these meaningful areas and ultimately fell in love with a beautiful location just outside of Statesboro. From there, #VowsinVidalia was born—a celebration of our love, rooted in a place that reflects not only our journey together but also the individual paths that brought us here. We can’t wait to share this special moment with you, surrounded by the people who have supported us every step of the way.

Question

How do I decline ahead of my formal invitation?

Answer

We understand that you may already have plans on 05.25.2025. If so, we ask that you navigate to the “RSVP” section of our wedding website to politely decline ahead of the formal invitation. While you won’t be able to join us in person, you’ll still be part of our celebration! We’ll make sure you’re added to our address list to receive registry details and photos from our special day. Thank you for your love and support—it means the world to us!

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We kindly ask that you RSVP as soon as possible upon receiving your formal invitation. To help us finalize our arrangements, please respond no later than 15 days after receiving your formal invitation. Any formal invitations not responded to within 20 days of delivery will be marked as “Not Attending.” Please Note: Early RSVP and decline are now available. If you’ve received your “Save the Date” and already have knowledge of prior engagements, we ask that you navigate to the “RSVP” section of our wedding website to politely decline ahead of the formal invitation. Alternatively, if you’ve received your “Save the Date” and already plan to join us, we’d love for you to confirm your attendance early by navigating to the same “RSVP” section. Thank you for helping us plan our special day!

Question

Can I bring a date/plus one?

Answer

Invitations are addressed specifically to the recipient. If a plus one is included, it will be clearly stated on your invitation. We kindly ask that you honor the names listed on your invite.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

While we love your little ones, this will be an adults-only event. We kindly ask that you make childcare arrangements, as this allows all guests to relax and enjoy the celebration in a formal setting. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes! This is a formal black-tie celebration with an all-black dress code. Guests are asked to wear elegant, all-black attire to honor the theme. To maintain a cohesive look, we kindly request no accents or pops of color. Gold or silver-tone jewelry is welcome to complement your ensemble, and men may wear white shirts beneath their black suits. For more details on our dress code please navigate over to the “Etiquette & Attire” section of our wedding website. Thank you for adhering to our dress code and helping us create a beautifully unified and timeless atmosphere

Question

Are cameras and other devices permitted?

Answer

We will participate in an Unplugged Ceremony! To ensure our wedding ceremony remains intimate and undisturbed, we kindly ask that all electronic devices, including cell phones, cameras, and other non-medical electronics, be left in your vehicles. Absolutely no cellphone use or photography will be permitted during the ceremony. We want everyone to be fully present with us as we exchange our vows. We will have a photographer staffed to ensure memories of the moment are beautifully captured. Guests are welcome to retrieve their devices after the ceremony concludes, prior to the reception but we kindly ask that you do not upload on social media, send, or share ANY photos from the big day until the bride and groom have had the opportunity to do so themselves. Thank you for helping us create a truly special and distraction-free moment to remember!

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Our big day will be on 05.25.2025 at 5:25 PM. Our ceremony will begin promptly at 5:25 PM. To ensure a smooth start, we invite our guest to arrive between 5:00 PM and 5:15 PM. Please note that the ceremony doors will close at 5:20 PM. To avoid disrupting the union, guests arriving after this time will be asked to remain outside until the ceremony has concluded. Thank you for your understanding and punctuality.
