After many missed connections throughout high school, Xander and Karly became friends during Xander’s senior year and Karly’s junior year at Mayfield High School. The two enjoyed a class period together, which they spent studying together and planning for college…JK! Xander, Karly, and their friends played card games and laughed a little too much during their seventh period together. When Xander graduated that spring, Karly was tasked with holding his phone during the ceremony. Here, she left a hand-drawn note, hoping for an invitation to grab slushies from Sonic before she left for the Governor’s Scholar Program that summer. Xander and Karly spent a great deal of time together that summer, but eventually drifted apart after Xander started college at Murray State University. Despite this, the two rekindled their spark during the 2019 Thanksgiving holiday. Karly would drive to Murray on the weekends for Christmas, New Years Eve, and eventually Valentine’s Day of 2020– the day they officially began dating. Karly graduated high school in 2020 and furthered her studies at the University of Kentucky– four hours away from Xander. While Xander was at Murray State University and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Karly accepted his lavalier proposal– a promise to marry, signified by his Greek letters she was given to wear around her neck. In 2021, Xander was accepted to the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and moved to Lexington, Kentucky. The couple spent three fun-filled years here, finally together after the time spent separated by their studies. Xander graduated from the University of Kentucky in May of 2026 as a Doctor of Pharmacy, and Karly currently lives and works in western Kentucky. Xander and Karly have been best friends for many years now, and they are eager to begin this new chapter of their lives. They could not have done it without the support and love of their friends and family– the couple appreciates these people more than they know!
