Question

IS IT SAFE TO TRAVEL TO COLOMBIA?

Answer

Yes, Colombia is generally a safe country to travel in. To put this into perspective, Bogota has a lower violent crime rate than several major cities in the US. But, we’ve gathered some “pro-tips” for an all around smooth trip around Colombia: 1) Remember to bring and carry cash. In Colombia, the COP (Colombian Peso) is used as currency and can be exchanged when you arrive. 2) When shopping or dining out, ask in advance for the price of items so that you are not sticker shocked. Pro tip: most times, prices are negotiable in the markets. 3) Credit cards work well; for the most part, AMEX and Visa is accepted in most establishments. 4) If you plan on booking any tours outside of our itinerary, consider booking in advance or via the hotel. 5) If your cellphone plan does not include international service, consider purchasing a prepaid SIM card for data (cheaper than international roaming and available in the airport and kiosks). 6) Leave your valuables in the hotel safe. This means flashy jewelry, expensive bags/shoes/accessories. The less attention you draw to yourself, the better! 7) Always keep your bags and purses in sight and to the front of your body. 8) Order taxis at the designated areas at the airport, at your hotel, or via Uber. We do not recommend hailing your own cab off the street! 9) The Colombian version of Ubereats is Rappi. Download the app if you’d like anything (literally anything) delivered to your door! 10. In case of an emergency, you can reach the police on 113.

Question

SHOULD I VISIT OTHER CITIES IN COLOMBIA?

Answer

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage you to extend your stay in Colombia, there is so much to see! The bride and groom will be traveling to Cartagena after the wedding festivities on April 7. If you’re interested in extending your stay, email xabierandannacristina@gmail.com for all the details!

Question

HOW DO I MAKE RESERVATIONS OR CALL ANYONE WHILE IN THE U.S.?

Answer

Communicating with your hotel, a restaurant, a vendor is so simple from the U.S.! Colombia loves WhatApp and you can download the app and text them. Usually the business has an account and will take your text/call. We encourage you to make reservations at your favorite spots this way too.
