Our story begins at Rangeland Elementary School where we were both teachers. Natalie had been teaching 4th grade at Rangeland for a few years already, but Jared was hired for the 2018-2019 school year as the PE teacher. Natalie was into Jared the first time she saw him in the cafeteria on the first teacher workday before the year began. Though Natalie knew she was interested in Jared, nothing happened for quite a while. Once basketball season came around, Natalie started hanging around to help pass out snacks to the basketball kiddos. But really, she was just trying to get to chat with the cute basketball coach, Jared. Jared, however, was not interested in dating anyone he worked with at that point, although he did think that she was cute. When soccer season rolled around, some teacher friends got involved. They invited Jared to come to a soccer game with them, as Natalie was the coach. We all went to hang out after the game and we finally started to connect more. Jared started staying after school to help pass out snacks to the soccer players and the Girls on the Run team that Natalie also coached. And even though Jared went to the Girls on the Run race, and ran the entire thing in a tutu, Natalie was still somehow unsure if Jared actually liked her. Eventually, we went on a date on April 13, which was also the night of Thunder Over Louisville. Natalie thought that maybe Jared was just being nice, but was very excited when he asked her on a second date. The second date was to Rec Bar and Jared didn't let Natalie win a single game (and still doesn't). We had our first kiss that night and things were pretty set after that. We spent all the time we could together, even though we were both working, coaching, and in grad school. At the beginning of COVID, we moved into an apartment together with the best puggle there is, Roscoe. In October of 2021, we bought Roscoe a yard (house) together and got engaged about a month later. For both of us, it has always felt like things just fall into place when we are together. While navigating teaching, a relationship, graduate school, a pandemic, and more hasn't been easy, it has definitely been worthwhile with the right person.
