How We Met

September 21, 2020

In Wyatt's Words: " In the midst of the pandemic, it was my first day of a new job - Amazon. After a tour of the warehouse, I found myself in the shipping department. One of the current shippers chose me out of the group of new-hires to train. You're probably thinking at this point that it was Amelia. I will tell you you're wrong. This associate was no bueno. She was lazy and had an unwelcoming personality. After a couple hours of learning the process, I was putting a label sticker on a box. My perfectionist self was placing them as parallel to the box's edge as my eyes could measure. As I was labeling boxes, I felt a warm touch on my shoulder and heard an angelic voice speaking with a gentle tone, "that doesn't have to be straight." With my enjoyment of the oddly satisfying straight and parallel edges, I turned and replied, "yes it does." It was at that moment we locked eyes for the first time. I fell into the gaze of her hazel green eyes. I was entranced. The few seconds of eye contact felt like hours. To my fortune, the lazy associate who was training me pawned me off to Amelia. I gathered my few things and moved to her station, located at J8 (the warehouse has pole locations throughout, labeled alphanumerically like a grid system). It was at pole J8 where we began to get to know each other. We realized we had many common interests and ideas. My infatuation with this beautiful woman grew. I could tell she was grounded. She had good intentions behind her words and actions. Her vibe was pretty. Unfortunately for her, at the time, she was dealing with car troubles. Catching rides or ordering Ubers. I offered to give her a ride home since I passed through on my way home from work. This lasted a few weeks while her car situation was resolved. During that time we would stay in the parking lot in the car and hangout, listen to music and wait out the horrible Nashville traffic. This is where we found many common music interests, an influence in both of our lives. From there, our relationship blossomed and continues to flourish. I cherish the moment we locked eyes. To this day, I continue to get lost in her hazel green eyes. Two windows with my favorite view of the universe. I'm excited to catch that gaze for the rest of my life, the gaze of my soon-to-be wife. In Amelia's Words: "There was a new hire in shipping that was being "trained" by this God awful lazy woman in the department. She called me over to grab some more work from her station, and I saw him for the first time. Down on one knee, applying a label meticulously to a parcel. I said, "That doesn't have to be straight". He replied "Yes, it does", while turning towards me. It was during his response that we locked eyes for the first time. It hit different, time slowed and I fell into the depth of his dark brown eyes. While locked in this moment, the lazy shipper had a genius idea on how to work less that day; give me the new hire to train. I had no contest with her request, for once. During time spent at the shipping station located at pole J8, we learned about all the commonalities we shared with our interests, morals and what a happy life looks like. When you know, you just know. I knew then, I know now, and I know tomorrow that I love that man. I cannot wait to marry this man. I wake up every day grateful that our paths crossed and we found lifelong love."
