In the middle of August 2025, Ella and Wyatt found themselves attending a mutual friend’s wedding at Camp Hosea in College Station, Texas. Ella’s mom met Wyatt that morning while helping with setup and thought he would be a fun person to introduce to Ella later that evening. However, it was Wyatt who first noticed Ella the moment she walked into the ceremony wearing a yellow dress, and knew he had to talk to her. They struck up an easy conversation at the coffee bar, continued chatting through cocktail hour, and by mid-dinner Wyatt moved to sit next to Ella at her table. Their connection was instant, effortless, and undeniable. Later, friends told them it had been obvious to everyone in the room. For the rest of the evening, they were inseparable — especially on the dance floor. Before Ella left that night, Wyatt asked for her phone number so they could keep the connection going. With no prior knowledge of each other or their families, it felt like God’s clear hand was orchestrating their meeting and budding relationship from the very beginning. The morning after their meeting, Wyatt reached out to Ella and they quickly dove into deep, meaningful conversations — including the realities of living in different states (Wyatt in Colorado and Ella in Texas). They held nothing back, and going forward, they talked for hours every single day, often late into the night. After a month of countless FaceTime calls, endless text messages, and even long-distance DoorDash dates, they were more than ready to see each other again. So Ella flew to Colorado to be Wyatt’s date for yet another wedding. Wyatt picked her up at the Denver airport and greeted her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and just as if it was a movie, Ella ran straight to him! Right there in the airport, they shared their first kiss, said their first “I love you’s,” and Wyatt asked Ella to officially be his girlfriend. After all those hours of talking, it felt as if they had known each other for years. That weekend marked the beginning of a beautiful pattern of flights and weekend visits. They quickly and easily began integrating into each other’s families, communities, and daily lives, and it didn’t take long for Ella to love Colorado, and for Wyatt to love Texas. They both knew early on that they had found “the one.” Through birthdays, holidays, special events, and every possible moment together in person or over FaceTime, they quickly became best friends. Their deep shared faith and love for the Lord only confirmed what they already felt — that they were truly each other’s person. They credit every part of their story to God’s perfect timing and creative plan. Though their parents had briefly met at the wedding in Texas, Ella and Wyatt wanted their families to spend real time together as things became serious. In January, Ella’s parents flew to Denver and stayed with Wyatt’s family to celebrate his birthday weekend. It was clear to everyone that not only were Ella and Wyatt perfectly matched, but their parents and families were aligned as well and easily became friends. It felt like such a gift that the Lord brought them all together! Not long after, on a warm spring day in Houston, Wyatt told Ella to dress up for a special date in town. She wore a yellow dress again, and this time, Wyatt brought a diamond ring. On February 28th, Wyatt got down on one knee and asked for Ella’s hand in marriage and she said YES! Guided by God every step of the way, they cannot wait to become husband and wife back in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, December 12th, 2026. After the wedding and a wonderful honeymoon, they plan to celebrate again in Denver for a reception on Saturday, January 2, 2027. They will make their first home together in College Station, Texas, where Wyatt will work and Ella will finish her final year of nursing school.
