We met while working together at The Gurley Street Gill in Prescott, Arizona. One night, once the dinner rush had died down, Andy pulled me aside and asked if I wanted to hang out after work. I was taken by surprise (although we had been working together for several weeks and got along, I had no idea he had been checking me out) but I said yes. We finished our shift and walked to The Raven Cafe, where Andy told me his life story over cups of coffee. While we sat there, it began to snow. We talked for hours, I think until The Raven closed but I could be wrong. Andy walked me to my car and asked for my number. He told me he could have copied it from our work schedule but he thought that was creepy. I got a good chuckle out of that. He asked me out again, to go bowling with him soon. I'm still waiting on that second date...
It was a long time coming! Wyatt and I took a sleeper car train through Oregon, Washington, and the Mountains of Montana to visit my brother and family for Christmas. We left about dusk, and the plan was to ask her at some point the next day, either over breakfast, or as we were hanging out throughout the afternoon. I had no real plan other than it is going down on the train. Once we were on the train, I found myself taking the ring with me as we explored and grabbed some food. It was not going to disappear before the big show. I quickly could feel it burning a hole in my pocket and it was clear I was not going to make it another day. As we settled in with some tv and libations we started to reminisce on years past, how much we had grown, and how happy we were to be on this path together. That was my in! I asked that we keep on this journey together as husband and wife. Wyatt didn't really realize what was happening, and the world went fuzzy for me, but she said Yes!
