Some love stories begin with fireworks. Ours began at a family event… with a little immaturity and a lot of potential. Demetrius was a family friend on Jazmin’s side, and when we first met, we were young, figuring out life, and definitely not ready for forever. Our first chapter was short. But as it turns out, God wasn’t finished writing our story. Because in 2017, our paths crossed again. This time felt different. We were older. Wiser. A little more grounded. What started as reconnecting quickly turned into rebuilding, dreaming, and planning a future together. We made promises to continue our education side by side and talked about traveling the world, collecting memories instead of things. And life tested us. We faced trials that could have shaken us apart, but instead, they rooted us deeper. With the grace of God, we learned what commitment really looks like. We chose each other again and again. What once was young and unfinished became resilient and intentional. Then came 2025. Jazmin was getting ready for work one ordinary day, putting on her scrubs like she had done a hundred times before. Demetrius casually asked, “Is that what you’re wearing to work?” She said yes… slightly confused… and asked why. And that’s when he said, “I just wanted to make sure it would match your ring.” Then he got down on one knee. In scrubs. On a regular day. In a moment neither of us will ever forget. Because sometimes forever doesn’t arrive with trumpets. Sometimes it shows up before work, with a question that changes everything. Now, here we are. Older. Stronger. Grateful. Ready to continue building a life filled with faith, love, laughter, education, travel, and purpose. The Lord truly works in mysterious and beautiful ways. And we cannot wait to begin this next chapter together.
