On a Sunday morning in late August 2017, Jim noticed Faith as she was leading worship while he served as a volunteer on the production team. Immediately, he was captivated by her but did not tell her. Over the next year, Faith transitioned into leadership over worship + production (WoPro). While serving together, one day, Faith challenged Jim about how he handled a situation with the team. During this conversation Jim blurted out, “I am with you.” At that moment, he realized that those words meant something more. However, he did not say anything wanting to honor God, her + the ministry that God was building through them. Over the next year, Faith + Jim met weekly at Starbucks to develop + build the production team + talk about their life experiences. But, then the news came that Faith was being pulled to another campus, which meant that they would no longer be able to meet regularly. In fall 2019, Faith noticed Jim’s son, David, had a scheduling issue, so Faith reached out to Jim to get clarification. This conversation went on until Jim finally shared his true feelings for Faith. Catching her by surprise, this led to several more discussions (dates) on Jim’s blue couch talking as friends (yes, it was pure, he did not even kiss her). Finally, two months later, Faith + Jim officially started dating. From there, they both knew that God was up to something + within 6 weeks Jim began to plan the proposal. But, then the the country began to shut down making the original proposal impossible. After talking to Faith’s family + friends, Jim planned a different proposal. On April 10, Jim proposed to Faith at Sunday Park in Chesterfield, VA, a place that holds a special place in her heart because of the many childhood memories. Engagement + a global pandemic have presented challenges, but it has confirmed their love for one another + more importantly what God is building between them as best friends, partners in church ministry + now as husband wife.
