Adam and I were in the same organization our freshman year of college and coincidentally lived in dorm buildings that were right across from each other. We developed a group of friends that all lived on the South side of campus and we spent countless late nights studying and hanging out. In that time hanging out I discovered that Adam is a "quiet funny". The kind where if you are listening they are the funniest person, he doesn't have to be the loudest person in the room to be hilarious. I didn't have a car my freshman year so Adam, being the gentleman that he is, offered me rides to all of our organization events and even trips to HEB/Target. I later learned that he had a crush on me during all of that time, but in the moment I was clueless! I knew Adam was a great guy and I had really started to appreciate our friendship. It wasn't until one night that I accidentally left my phone in an Uber that I started to catch feelings for Adam. I was expecting him to be upset about having to pay a fee and wait for the car to come back, or make jokes about it for the rest of the night (like a normal guy would). However, Adam was really patient and was super calm about the entire thing. He didn't make me feel bad at all for my mistake and waited outside with me for the Uber to bring back my phone. It was in that moment that I realized "he is not like other guys." Although I was certain I had a crush on him, I was scared to tell anyone because I didn't want to cause any drama in our friend group. It wasn't until about two weeks later that Adam got me the most thoughtful birthday gift that I realized that the feelings between us were mutual. We dated in secrecy (not wanting to cause drama with our friends) for about 2 months before telling everyone. The rest is history!!! I am beyond grateful that God allowed us to meet and that I get to marry my best friend!!!
