Only one half of this happy couple graduated college with an English major, so it feels fitting that Hannah handed me the reigns to write the “Our Story” section on our wedding website. Let’s be honest, this is also one of the few things she truly trusted me to handle anyways. Hannah and Michael’s story began in early September 2022, when the two matched on Hinge. For those unfamiliar, Hinge is a dating app where two people can “match” and, if all goes well, begin a conversation. Hannah and Michael’s summers on Hinge, however, could not have been more different. Hannah endured a seemingly endless string of dud dates, while Michael went on precisely zero. So when the two connected, they chatted relentlessly for weeks, quickly realizing there was something different about this match. Then suddenly, silence… Hannah stopped responding. Michael, naturally, assumed the worst. Maybe he said something weird. Maybe something off-putting. Or maybe Hannah suddenly lost interest. Given Michael’s abysmal luck on dating apps, he was convinced this promising connection slipped away. After a full week of no messages, Hannah finally replied, much to Michael’s relief. As it turned out, he hadn’t said anything strange at all, rather Hannah was simply surviving the inexplicably exhausting first week of the school year. The conversations continued, and eventually Michael worked up the courage to ask Hannah for her number. A first date was set for September 23, 2022. They met outside Rooftop in downtown Walnut Creek at 6 p.m. and proceeded to gallivant around town until well past midnight, talking, laughing, and wondering how time had disappeared so quickly. In the weeks that followed, Hannah and Michael saw each other weekly. From Giants games, to pickle ball, to adventures at Maggie’s sports bar in San Francisco, their connection continued to grow. Before long, they found themselves on the slopes in Tahoe—where Michael was relieved (and impressed) to learn that Hannah’s skiing skills were, in fact, as good as she claimed. Over the next three and a half years, Hannah and Michael’s relationship only continued to soar. Through the highs and the lows, they showed up for one another time and time again. Countless trips, nights spent with friends and family, and everything in between have led them to this moment—and to the day they get to celebrate with all of you. We can’t wait to see you and celebrate together on June 13th!
