My parents and I moved back to Virginia from South Carolina in October of 2016. They bought a house on the Nansemond River in Suffolk. My best friend, Abby, and I were passing out candy on Halloween when Brian walked up to introduce himself. At the time, he lived two doors down with his parents. A few weeks later, I invited him to a friend's party and we've been together ever since! -The Girl Next Door
A few days before we got engaged, our friends invited us to go to Riverstone Chophouse for dinner. The weather was finally warming up, restaurants were slowly opening back up at this point, and we were all a little stir crazy. So Sunday, we all got dressed up and headed towards the restaurant. Brian said his parents had gift cards we could use for our meal, so we were going to stop by there to grab them. I was in the very back of the vehicle, so everyone got out ahead of me when we arrived to his parents. At first, I almost didn't even get out of the vehicle, but the couples we were with hadn't met Brian's parents. I was the last one to walk around the back of the house and it wasn't long that I realized we weren't there to pick up gift cards. Our families were in the backyard and our friends were all on boats in the water cheering us on as Brian took me over to the edge of the bank to see everyone. He got down on one knee, asked me to spend forever with him, and I said yes!
