Travel Note

Visa and Passport Information!!

If you have a layover in the UK, there will be a separate visa (ETA) you'll need to get in order to travel there. This visa is known as the ETA Visa, which is £10 to purchase, but will only be needed if you have a layover in the UK. You currently do not need a visa to travel to Sweden from the USA. Please note that your passport MUST be valid for at least three months beyond the period of your stay in order to gain entry into Sweden. To be safe, we are recommending renewing your passport if it's set to expire six months after your departure date.

Cell phone information

You will not be able to use your basic phone plan while in Sweden, however, most service providers offer an international plan. These day plans are typically around $12 a day, which can get pricey. The best course of action is to purchase a physical or virtual SIM card (depending on your phone model), which you can purchase while in Sweden or online prior to traveling. Some common companies are Vodafone, Airalo, Holafly, etc. As a reminder, most international SIM cards are data only and do not include text or calls. However, if you have an iPhone, you can text other people through iMessage and make calls on FaceTime Audio using data. Another way to communicate for non-iPhone users is through WhatsApp, which is an app for texting and calling.

Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Arlanda is Stockholm's main International airport. The quickest way into Stockholm is by the Arlanda express train, which takes only 18 minutes. You can also Uber or taxi, which is about a 35 minute drive. For cheaper airline costs flying out of the USA, we recommend leaving from a major international airport such as JFK, EWR, CLT, BOS, or ALT.

Public Transportation

Please note that Stockholm has a wonderful public transportation system of buses, ferries, subways, and trains. If you plan on using public transportation, please consider downloading the SL-Journey planner and tickets app as a helpful resource.

Located in Downtown Stockholm, this hotel is in close proximity to the train station if taking the Arlanda Express Train from the airport.

This hotel is a 10 minute walk to our wedding venue on the island of Djurgården. While a great option to be close to the venue, if you're a visitor, keep in mind this hotel is about a 30 minute walk to downtown Stockholm.
