Wedding Update: A reminder that I have kept near and dear to my heart the last few months and especially weeks; Love is patient. To all of our friends and family, Many times we have laughed and also cried with you, we’ve been taught lessons, asked for forgiveness, celebrated and been shown kindness. And most importantly loved. You are the folks we want surrounding us on one of the happiest days of our life, and that is why we have made the hard decision to postpone our wedding. We want all of our guests to not only have fun and enjoy being with each other but to also be safe, because of this, we plan to move our wedding until the summer of 2021. We will send out change the dates with an updated wedding date in the coming weeks. A lot of thought went into this decision so if you have any questions at all feel free to contact either myself or Eric. So much has happened this year and while I was dreading this day it’s definitely a reminder that some things are worth waiting for. We absolutely can’t wait until next summer to celebrate with everyone! We truly can’t say thank you enough to everyone who has been flexible and understanding through all of this. All our love, Karley and Eric ♥
We met on a hot July day. Eric had been asked to help his high school friend Nathan move into a new apartment with his girlfriend Danielle and I for our junior year at UCCS. I first took notice of how tall Eric was (of course!), he seemed shy around us but was very happy and talkative around his friends. I talked with Danielle about how cute I though he was during our sweaty day of moving stuff into our new apartment. Everyone who helped us move enjoyed a well-deserved pizza break together while I stole as many passing glances to Eric as I could! Danielle assured me Nathan wouldn't mind getting the message across to Eric if I wanted him too. The next day I asked Nathan if he could give Eric my number. Not long after I got a call from Eric asking me on a date, to which we ‘romantically’ choose Applebee’s for lunch 2 days later. We initially went on a few double dates with our two close friends who encouraged us to be a little more outgoing with each other. We soon realized how much we loved each other’s company and found every reason we could to spend time together, even ridding the bus at school. In September of that year both of my grandparents passed away, Eric and I had only been dating for less than two months at the time but he rose to the occasion. Eric went above and beyond anything that I could’ve asked of him, he was thrown into my crazy and loving family during such a hectic time, but he took it all in stride. It helped me realize just how incredible of a human he was and what a blessing it was that I had him to lean on during such a difficult time. We tackled our junior and senior year of college at UCCS together, raised a Guide Dog for the Blind puppy (Melon) to whom we adopted together when she was released from the program, graduated together, got jobs, and have now lived through a pandemic together. We have already been through so much in our time together and I can’t be more excited to see where our forever will take us.
The day Eric proposed was a warm and beautiful July day. We enjoyed a day of walking Melon and taking her for a swim. We had just passed our two year anniversary a few days prior so he was going to take me to dinner to celebrate our time together. We decided to have a laid back dinner and went to my favorite brewery called Colorado Mountain Brewery. Eric enjoyed his favorite hamburger and I got the best beer cheese pretzels bites. We had a great time and enjoyed the comfort of each other’s company. When we finished with dinner the sun was going to set soon. Eric suggested we take a walk around Fox Run Regional Park as they have two small lakes that look incredible around sunset. Eric grew up hiking with his family at Fox Run or playing football in the fields so it was always a go-to spot for him. It quickly became one of my favorite places as well, we could take Melon swimming or go hiking in pine trees. Just as we started our walk around one of the lakes I went closer to the water to look at the Goldfish swimming around (they are huge!). When I had turned to Eric to show him, he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was incredibly excited and nervous, my initial response was “Uh Yes.” in more of a sassy tone than I had originally intended. Eric still gives me a hard time about my response! All in good fun of course. As we continued on our walk Eric proudly told me he had designed the ring himself. It was a perfect proposal and makes Fox Run that much more of a special place to us.
