July 4th weekend of 2016 is where our story started, so it was only right to pick the same weekend to start our happily ever after. We both were out for July 4th weekend. The groom was in NC on leave from the military in GA, to see family and friends, and the bride out with one of her best friend’s, now bridesmaid, Jordan. We ended up hanging out all night and even walking in the pouring down rain to our friend’s house. Of course the groom was a gentleman and gave the bride his rain jacket, while he got soaked in the thunderstorm! 🙂 We hung out the next day, July 4th, at his parent’s house with all of our friends, and the bride made sure to show off her competitive side by beating his team in cornhole. I, the bride, couldn’t stop thinking about the mystery man in the American flag swim trunks (yes he still has them 😩) after that weekend, so soon after we were talking on the phone every night for hours on end and trading off weekends to drive the 6 hr distance to see each other.
Not only is July 4th weekend when we met, but July 2nd and July 3rd are very special days for two of the most important women in the bride’s life. The bride’s grandmother, Marie Nix, was born on July 2nd and her mother, Shirley Wood, on July 3rd. We look forward to not only celebrating our wedding with everyone this weekend, but also these two very special ladies!
