Historical naval base turned leading SoCal destination for dining, retail, arts, recreation and history. Check out the public market for a plethora of food options, pop into Stone Brewing for a beer, grab a beverage to-go at Bottlecraft and walk by the water watching the planes come and go. Take a swing at the 9 hole par 3 golf course or play some mini golf at the Loma Club.
Known for its endangered species, breeding programs and conservation efforts the zoo is one of the largest in the world and voted #1 zoo! Grab a beverage, check out the animals and get your steps in.
Take a stroll around Balboa Park to discover beautiful architecture, gardens and museums. We like to grab lunch and take it here, find a spot by the lily pond.
We got engaged at Sunset Cliffs and it is truly one of our favorite places in California. Prime sunset watching spot with secret beaches and caves for the more adventurous folks.
Check out the seals and sea lions (respectfully from a distance) in their natural habitat. Be prepared that seals and sea lions are stinky in the summer months. Tons of restaurants, bars and shopping. Check out Sunny Jim Cave located within a souvenir shop, descending 145 stairs to an amazing view. Kayak through sea caves with La Jolla Kayak Company.
The Lafayette is where Amanda spends spring afternoons sipping cocktails by the pool. The entire space was recently renovated and features fancy restaurants, instagram worthy cocktails, a bowling alley and live music.
North Park is the neighborhood we first lived in when we moved to SD. Some of our favorite spots: Taproom Beer Co (Amanda's work), Fall Brewing, Dunedin (New Zealand eats), Solomon Bagel, Redwing (karaoke), Holsem Coffee, North Park Beer Co, Original 40 (brewery, vibes, tell Cory we sent you), Tribute Pizza, Mabels Gone Fishing, and The Smoking Goat.
This is our hood! Take a stroll down Adams Ave and hit up Dos Palmas for coffee and paninis, stop into Blind Lady Ale House for pizza and beer, grab a fancy cocktail at Polite Provisions, happy hour at Swan Bar (best in town), and eat at Cantina Mayahuel for authentic Mexican. If you're looking for a dive bar check out Rosie O'Gradys or Ould Sod and cure your hangover the next day with brunch at The Vibe.
Awesome beach, one of our favorite places to people watch. Big hippie vibes. Eat at OB Noodle House (get the peanut butter shot, trust us), La Dona for mexican food and margs, The Little Lion Cafe, grab a mai tai at OB Surf Lodge, get a sub at Olive Tree Marketplace and head to the beach! Don't forget to do the stingray shuffle.
One of the most beautiful beaches in SD. Head to the Del for drinks overlooking the water, take a stroll through the neighborhood and admire the houses. Head to the dog beach for a serotonin boost. Things are pricey on the island so keep that in mind.
