Things To Do

This little area of the world is very special to us. For years, we’ve escaped the city to come up here and rest, to be still, to do nothing. The Catskills and surrounding valley pair the timeless and unrefined with endless small towns, long drives through the woods, hiking, eating, and strange little stops that fold upstate lore and history into quirky, sometimes solemn encounters. Take time to explore. Kingston is an upstate gem with walkable shopping and restaurants. Stone Ridge has wonderful antique shops and Cherries roadside ice cream stand. Nearby High Falls is home to Fool for Love and Ollie’s Pizza, and of course there's a lot to see and do in Woodstock. Or simply pause and take in the scenery. The Ashokan Reservoir Promenade stretches straight into the Ashokan Reservoir, surrounded by the Catskills. Nearby is the Quarry Trail, where Matt proposed during a blizzard last January (funny story). There’s something here for everyone, at every pace.

Ashokan Reservoir Promenade (West Entrance)

Olivebridge, NY 12461

A walk along the Ashokan Reservoir Promenade is a must. The paved trail stretches across the reservoir, with stunning panoramic views of the Catskill Mountains. We especially recommend visiting at sunset, when you can watch the sun dip behind the ridgeline. There are two entrances to the trail, but we recommend starting at the west entrance.

Ashokan Quarry Trail

New York 28A, Olivebridge, NY 12461

The Ashokan Quarry Trail is an easy two-mile trail that looks out towards the reservoir and mountains. This is also where Matt proposed and is an especially meaningful place to us!

Cheese Louise

940 New York 28, Kingston, NY 12401

Cheese Louise is beloved spot, known for their selection of artisanal cheese, pantry provisions, killer sandwiches and espresso bar. It also happens to be owned by one of our dear friends, Ari, which makes us love it even more!

Bread Alone Bakery

3962 New York 28, Boiceville, NY 12412

Bread Alone is a favorite of the Hudson Valley! You can find their loaves at NYC farmer's markets and upstate grocery stores alike. Their cafes offer a full breakfast menu and great coffee. They have locations in Woodstock and Boiceville!

Fruition Chocolate Works

3091 New York 28, Shokan, NY 12481

If you're a chocolate lover, like us, we highly recommend stopping by Fruition Chocolate Works. They make the most incredible, small batch, hand crafted chocolates!

SILVIA

42 Mill Hill Road, Woodstock, NY 12498

Contemporary cuisine focused on clean and local ingredients, a beloved Woodstock mainstay!

Kingston Farmers Market

285 Wall Street, Kingston, NY 12401

Every Saturday from 9am-1pm, local farms, bakers and florists gather in Kingston's Stockade District for a farmer's market. It's a great way to see Kingston and experience the rich, local food culture of Upstate New York!

Rough Draft Bar & Books

82 John Street, Kingston, NY 12401

Rough Draft is a wonderful bookstore and cafe in Kingston's historic Stockade District. They have a great selection of titles, and serve coffee, cider and beer.

Cherries Roadside Ice Cream

4166 U.S. 209, Stone Ridge, NY 12484

Our favorite ice cream spot! A short drive from Kingston and Woodstock, Cherries serves homemade ice cream, burgers and sandwiches with a retro-inspired twist.

Fool For Love

1209 New York 213, High Falls, NY 12440

Fool for Love has amazing and thoughtfully curated collection of vintage clothing, jewelry, and things for your home and desk -- pencils, pens, incense, candles and more!

INNESS

10 Bank Street, Accord, NY 12404

A bit further away in Accord is Iness, a boutique resort with a spa and restaurant. If you're looking for an elevated stay or farm-to-table dining experience during your trip, we'd recommend a visit. This is where we had dinner to celebrate after Matt proposed.
