Katherine moved to California the same week that Johnny moved to Columbia and little did they know, Katherine had been friends with Johnny's soon-to-be roommates. When Katherine moved back to Columbia a year later, she found a new (cute) face in her friend group. Katherine's dog Taco was a helpful icebreaker when Johnny greeted him with "hey buddy" and Katherine said "his name isn't buddy." It's been bliss ever since.
After being together for only a year and a half, Johnny suggested buying a house together instead of continuing to rent. One look at an amortization schedule was all Katherine needed to jump on board, so long as the house had a yard for Taco. While some saw this as a big step, Johnny and Katherine had no qualms. Besides, if things went south they'd only have to be awkward roommates for 2 years to avoid capital gains!
After 5 years of filing separate taxes, the couple decided enough was enough. Johnny popped the question at home on a Friday night while Katherine was on the floor playing with the dogs. It was the epitome of romance and they wouldn't have it any other way.
Now seems as good a time as ever to tell you that Johnny will be taking Katherine's last name. Hey, it's 2021. (Cue Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like a Woodruff")
