How We Met

Heart Six Ranch

We both worked at Heart Six during the summer of 2016. I (Woodrow) had worked there for a few years prior to meeting Brooke, so she was sort of the new person at work. My first impression was that she seemed nice enough but was a little shy and sort of had a weird Pennsylvania accent. About 10 days later, I was in love with the sweetest and most beautiful woman in the world! The only problem, she didn't really want to talk to me! Our first one on one task at work was raking up old hay piles in the pasture. I tried making small talk with her, but had little success. When we finished raking up all the hay, I looked at her and said "man, all this raking gave me a blister." Brooke looked back at me with a disapproving look and said "that gave you a blister?" As time went on and the embarrassment wore off, she started talking to me more. I'm not really sure what happened after that. We had a lot in common and spent most of our time working together and eventually we both fell in love with each other. We had so much fun working together with the horses, fishing, getting to know eachother and driving around to take pictures.

How He Proposed

The day Brooke unknowingly messed up Woodrow's proposal plans a through z

We made plans to go snowmobiling on Saturday, March 28th. That morning, we were getting our backpacks ready to go and I (Brooke) was putting my camera in my backpack. Wood said I should bring the tripod for my camera, which caught me off guard because he's never the one to suggest taking pictures! I was skeptical & thought maybe he was planning to propose & wanted to have pictures, but didn’t get my hopes up. We started down the trail towards an overlook where I know has a great view of the Tetons. We stopped, talked for a minute & I thought maybe he was going get the camera out to take pictures & propose, but he didn't. We kept going & about halfway through our day, my hands were colder than they’ve ever been in by life & I insisted we turn around to go back to the truck to warm up. After a miserable drive (that felt like an eternity with frozen hands) we got back to the truck & I got my hands warmed back up. Wood suggested we go back out since we still had the sleds for a few hours. I didn’t want to go back out because I knew my hands would freeze again. He kept trying to get me to go, & I started getting frustrated because he wouldn’t let it go. Eventually, he said “okay, I want you to remember this moment where you refused to go back out on the sleds”. We packed up the sleds & headed back to town to drop them off. I fell asleep shortly after we started driving & woke up when Wood stopped at one of the turnouts in GTNP. He got out, opened my door, & asked me to get out of the truck. Then he got down on one knee, opened up a little box that had the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen & asked me to be his wife and of course I said yes! He had actually planned to propose while out snowmobiling, but that got messed up when we turned around early because my hands were too cold! It didn’t turn out exactly the way Woodrow had tried to plan it, but it was still a perfect moment & a day we won’t forget!
