Denver has a great public transportation system. There is an option to take the bus from DIA to the downtown boulder station which would be a cheaper alternative to Uber.

If you plan to rent a car while you're in town there are plenty of options at DIA. You can also check out the app Turo that is like AirBnB for cars. Lyons is an easy hour drive from the airport. (You don't have to drive through the mountains)
