How We Met

8.29.21

Justin and I met on Tinder...yep...Tinder. We were both at a point in our individual journeys of online dating that we thought it was time to give up, but then somehow we ended up swiping right on each other. We talked for a few weeks and had many late night phone calls and Justin finally agreed to meet me in person. I let him choose the place ( big mistake ) and time ( also big mistake ) and waited for the day to come. Once the day finally arrived, I was super excited and could hardly wait for the evening! I am usually the person if you tell them be ready by 8 I am ready at 8:15... Justin gave me a run for my money in that department!! We had agreed on meeting at Minveras at 7 for supper in Yankton. I was there EARLY just to make sure I was not late. While I was sitting there I got a text message from Justin saying he was running behind and would be a little late. I said it was fine...he did not show until 7:45!! I was so close to turning around to go back home but had a gut feeling I was meant to stay. After he arrived we went in and got ready to eat. I ordered a chicken pasta and when it came to Justins turn...he got broccoli...JUST BROCCOLI!! I asked him why he didn't order anything and he told me he had already ate supper. I then asked him why he even took me out to eat if he was going to eat before hand!! He of course had a valid excuse but I still felt awkward eating! Once I got my food the waitress told us that they were closing in 20 min. What a flop of a first date right?! This is the good part :) While we were sitting there we decided to go to my house in Vermillion to watch a movie and get to know each other better since we didn't get a lot of time to talk. Justin suggested we take his vehicle to again have more time to talk. Once we got to Vermillion we watched a Disney movie and a couple episodes of my crime show before Justin decided it was time for him to go. (It was around 2am at this point) We loaded back up into his car and drove back to Yankton to part ways, except I forgot something pretty important...MY CAR KEYS!! We both just laughed and Justin told me it was okay and made the trip back to Vermillion to get my keys and return back to Minervas. Once we got in the parking lot it was very apparent that neither of us wanted to leave so we took a few pictures and shared a few kisses before Justin asked me "What day?" My reply was "huh?" to which he replied with "well we went on a date so we are dating, right? What day is our anniversary?" Since it was 3:47am I told him it was August 29th. ( We still argue about this to this day) I didn't think it was a great idea at the time... but I guess it worked out okay to date a guy after the first date :)

How He Asked

5.31.23

It was a Wednesday and we were planning on going back to my hometown to see my family since I didn't have anything to do. Around 7:15am (before my alarm went off) Justin wakes me up with a homemade breakfast burrito. This isn't super unusual as he does this from time to time. As I am eating very sleepily, Justin says he is going to go let the dog back inside. When our dog Beau came upstairs I noticed he has something around his neck. I asked Justin why he put a napkin on Beau and then I read what it said..."will you marry my dad" I was still in the process of waking up plus had a mouthful of the burrito when Justin got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!! After that I sadly could not finish the burrito but boy did I find some energy! I was on cloud nine!
