FAQs

Question

How much time should I plan for travel?

Answer

Getting Here: Seattle to Amman There are no direct flights from Seattle to Amman, Jordan, so plan for a connecting flight through a hub city such as Istanbul. Total travel time — including your layover and airport time — is typically 18 to 21 hours, and you will arrive in Amman one calendar day after you depart Seattle due to the 10-hour time difference. We personally recommend flying through Istanbul (about 11 hours to Istanbul, then 3 hours onward to Amman) — it’s a great routing with manageable layovers.

Question

When should I book my flights?

Answer

We strongly recommend arriving in Amman by October 1st at the latest — October 2nd if you’re comfortable cutting it close. Arriving a day or two early gives you time to rest, shake off jet lag, and explore the city before the big day. Please do not book a flight arriving on October 3rd, as any delays could cause you to miss the wedding.

Question

Will you be available before the wedding?

Answer

As much as we would love to spend time with everyone, we will be fully occupied with wedding preparations and family commitments in the days leading up to the celebration on October 3rd. We can’t wait to celebrate together on the big day.

Question

What’s happening after the wedding?

Answer

The celebration doesn’t stop there! Join us for a post-wedding journey through some of Jordan’s most breathtaking landscapes. We’ll be traveling together as a group by private bus — no need to worry about logistics. October 4 — Petra & Wadi Rum We’ll depart Amman in the morning and head south to the ancient city of Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. That afternoon, we’ll continue into the otherworldly red sands of the Wadi Rum desert, where we’ll spend the night under the stars. October 5 — Aqaba We’ll make our way to the coastal city of Aqaba on the Red Sea, where we’ll check in to the Ayla Hotel for a few days of sun, swimming, and celebration. October 5–7 — Ayla Hotel, Aqaba Relax, explore, and enjoy the warm waters of the Red Sea. Our group stay at Ayla wraps up on October 7th, so plan your return flights from Amman (AMM) on October 8th or later to give yourself time to travel back north.

Question

Are children allowed at the wedding?

Answer

While we absolutely adore your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration. If you plan to travel with children, please let us know in advance—we’d be happy to help coordinate trusted babysitting options during the event.

Question

Have you reserved a room block at any hotels?

Answer

We will be sharing a list of recommended hotels and accommodations with preferred rates and locations close to the wedding venue. Once the RSVP window closes June 30, we will provide all the hotel accommodation details and preferred rates.

Question

How do we get around?

Answer

Transportation apps like Uber and Careem are widely available in Amman, along with private drivers and hotel-arranged transport. We don't recommend driving in the city or using public transportation, including yellow cabs.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes—our wedding will be formal / elegant attire. Think timeless, chic, and celebratory

Question

Gift guidance

Answer

We’re already so grateful you’re making this journey to celebrate with us, and that alone is the greatest gift. If you’d like to give something, we’d love contributions toward building our life together. You can find details in the registry section of this page.

Question

Do I need a visa for Jordan?

Answer

Many nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival, but we recommend checking requirements in advance based on your passport. We would recommend getting the Jordan Pass ahead of time that includes both the Visa and free/discount access to several historical Jordan sites (including Petra): https://www.jordanpass.jo/

Question

What currency should I use?

Answer

The local currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s helpful to carry cash for smaller purchases and sometimes for Uber and commuting.

Question

Will my phone work in Jordan?

Answer

Most international plans work, but you may also consider purchasing a local SIM card for convenience.

Question
