Have you ever just clicked with someone so well? Like you fit perfectly together? That's how we feel about each other. We had been friends for about two years before our first date. We would talk here and there, nothing ever more than that. I knew Kevin was a great guy, and I still to this day remember thinking to myself, "I hope I can be with someone as kind as him one day." and now, about six years later... here we are writing this post on our wedding website. I kept the thought to myself at the time because we were just friends, but one day when we were catching up Kevin asked me to go on a date with him to the movies, and I did. It was a little awkward at first, but we both knew there was something special between us, and we were right. We can't wait to share this day with you. See you in August!
New Years Eve, 2018. We are spending the New Year with family and friends. At about 11:59, I got up from next to Maddi and went over to my mom to retrieve the ring from her, who had been holding it for me in her jacket pocket for safekeeping. All night, I kept glancing over at my mom, nervously, foolishly wondering "does she still remember she has it!?!" No one knew it was happening but my parents. Couldn't have the surprise ruined by everyone staring at her and I as the clock strikes midnight. I make my way back to Maddi, ring in my pocket, and patiently wait out the LONGEST minute ever. Alas, midnight. I pop down on one knee and as everyone is saying "Happy New Year!" I say "Will you marry me?" She's lost for words, smiling uncontrollably. She nods 'yes', at this point everyone has now noticed whats going on, and the focus turns from the TV to us. Everyone starts hooting and hollering in excitement and confusion. People ask, 'what did you say!?', she nods more. Harder. Faster. She said "Yes". Good thing for me... that would've been really embarrassing. THE DAY PRIOR, I didn't know where to hide the ring, as I needed to hand the ring off to my mom once we arrived. So, since we we're going to Indianapolis, I hid the box in the pocket of the clean pair of sweatpants I planned on bringing. In case she was going to pack that pair of sweats, I wadded them up on the ground to make them look like they're dirty, ring in pocket. Maddi being Maddi, grabbed the pair of sweatpants that morning and tossed them in the wash, to bring to Indy! When I woke up, and couldn't find the pants, I started to freak out. She had to have found the ring, I was thinking. But, I couldn't say anything. I wait until she leaves for work. I run to the washing machine and kill it. I fish around for the sweatpants, pull them out dripping, reach in the pocket, and HA! The ring is still in the box in the pocket. Collision averted! Had to rush to the jewelry store for a new box on the day of!
