We met as members of the Boston College Marching Band - Mitch played tenor saxophone and Megan was on the dance team. In May 2014 at the end of Mitch's freshman year/Megan's sophomore year, we were both involved in Section Leader Week preparing for the upcoming football season. We were assigned to the same planning committee which is when we first became friends, and had our "first date" at White Mountain Creamery (a classic ice scream spot on BC's campus). We stayed in touch over the summer but didn't go out again until the fall, then made it official in October 2014.
After a long summer of quarantine, Mitch asked Megan to marry him while on the beach in Ocean City, Maryland. She had already figured out that something was going to happen that week but didn't know all the details. Our plans were thrown for a loop when a storm in Fenwick Island, Delaware knocked out the power all over town and cancelled our original dinner reservations. Luckily, Mitch was able to find reservations elsewhere on short notice. After an incredible sunset dinner at The Hobbit in Ocean City, we walked to the beach, Mitch got down on one knee, and she said yes.
