Hiking, nature trails, historical exhibits, golf, water sports, and zip lining are all available within the park. The mountain is the world's largest exposed granite outcrop and offers 360 views of greater Atlanta with options to hike or take the sky tram.

President Jimmy Carter's presidential library is a short drive from downtown Atlanta. This is a wonderful museum containing original presidential documents, Carter's Nobel Peace Prize, and information on the Carter Center (a non-profit human rights organization). Bonus fact - the grounds are the former sight of US General William T. Sherman's military headquarters during the Atlanta campaign of the Civil War.

MLK National Historic Park contain several preserved city blocks of Martin Luther King Jr.'s childhood neighborhood, including the house he was born in. Nearby, the King Center, founded by Coretta Scott King, houses exhibits relating to Dr. King's message of nonviolence as well as his burial site.
