This past year has been anything but normal, so thank you for sticking with us throughout all of the changes. While it's impossible to have absolutely everyone there, we're doing our best to plan a day to celebrate with as many family members and friends as possible. We can't wait to see you all!
As many of you may already know I met Jess at work. I started at AppFolio two weeks after her and I later found out that when she met me, she thought I was about 40 years old. Apparently, (not my opinion) I really needed a haircut. Fast forward about a year, and I discover that Jess signed up for her first half marathon. As an absolute stud when it comes to half marathons (I had done one), I realize I have an in. We started doing our long runs together on weekends and challenging each other through the week. We would discuss mileage we planned to run each week. I knew how competitive she was, so I liked to run one more mile than I knew she planned to run (just to drive her crazy/impress her). After weeks of running together and becoming closer Jess realized I wasn't actually forty and that I am pretty great. I could see in her eyes. She saw this handsome, young, fun, athletic, dominant runner that she needed in her life. We spent a lot of time together preparing for the race and getting to know each other. As for when we actually started dating, we're not really sure. The date that means the most to us is March 10th, the date of the race that brought us together.
My friend Brittney and I got our nails done that morning, then went back to her and her husband Alex's house. Will had been working a shift at Rodeo Goat that day, but arrived home a few minutes later; he's their roommate. Smelling very strongly of burgers from work, he asked if I'd like to go to the park before the sun went down to teach Dave to throw a frisbee. Me being my difficult self, said "no, my toes are drying". He asked when they'd be dry and I said maybe an hour or two. He decided to shower first while I watched tv, then try again. Luckily, 15 minutes later when he asked I said sure. Brittney & Alex joined us per usual with their dogs Millie and Leighton. They were all loading up a bag with a frisbee, football, dog treats, so naturally I was dressed for athletic activities! Unfortunately, this is why I am wearing leggings and a t-shirt for such a special moment! We spent some time playing frisbee, I threw the football with Alex (so will could grab the ring and Brittney could get the camera out of my hands) Will had asked that I bring my camera over to get some good pictures of Dave at the park. Dave has been in training, so I grabbed his treat pouch to work on some of his new behaviors. When I offered for Will to take a turn, he froze up then weirdly hugged me for a VERY long time. I was a little confused as to why he was randomly hugging me and complimenting me in the middle of the park, and he was shaking. I thought something was very very wrong and I repeatedly asked him what was wrong. He was having an incredibly difficult time with words, but somehow asked me if I'd marry him. Keep in mind, we're still in this awkwardly long hug, in a park, and I am wearing leggings. Naturally, I was confused. He eventually moved down to one knee and asked again, showing me the most gorgeous ring he had picked out. I have never been so genuinely surprised. The shock wore off a few hours later and we celebrated with my favorite, Italian food!
