Kelsey and Nick met auditioning for Into the Woods, Jr. in 7th grade. They both got in, and became part of a tight knit group of friends that lasted through high school. After years of Nick and his friends riding their bikes to hang out with Kelsey and her FIllingham Drive crew, Nick finally asked Kelsey out during their senior year spring musical, where they played opposite each other in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. They soaked up the last few months together in Rochester, and went off to their prospective colleges. They remained close friends through their college years, visiting each other whenever they were in Rochester. After graduating, Kelsey moved to NYC to fulfill her life-long dream of living there. Nick visited her a few times, and after a year, he decided to move there. They got an apartment together, and have been continuing their adventure ever since!
Kelsey was walking home from the subway after work with a friend, when Nick texted her to meet him on the roof of their apartment building. After going to the wrong side of the roof, Kelsey walked towards Nick, noticed candles lining the ground, and then saw Nick wearing a suit, standing there surround by lights. Kelsey still didn't get what was going on, and she said "hey, what are you doing?!" Nick grabbed her hands, brought her to the center of the lights, got down on one knee, and - to make sure Kelsey finally understood what was happening - said, "Kelsey, this is it" and asked her to marry him. All of their New York friends were waiting in their apartment to celebrate (although they were told they were there for a surprise half birthday party). To make the night even more special, Nick told Kelsey that they were headed to Rochester the next day to spend the weekend celebrating with their families. There is a longer version of this story that involves extension cords. Ask Nick for it if you're interested :)
