On the night we met, we were both invited by a mutual friend to hang out at the re-opening of a local German pub. When I first saw Pamela, I knew right away that she was different. I knew that after that night I was going to want to see her again, so I spent the rest of the evening figuring out a way to get her phone number. After meeting Kyle, I began to secretly hope that we would get to spend more time together soon. That following weekend, a similar group of friends got together to watch the UK basketball game. I was late (as always) and was only there for the last quarter, so when the game ended Kyle asked if I wanted to do something for the rest of the afternoon. We spent that day getting to know each other over good beer and a couple games of pool, after which Kyle nonchalantly asked me to dinner the following week. Our first date was so much fun and easy going that we both knew immediately that this was something special.
After I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Pamela, I started to plan the special day. Pamela had always told me she didn't want a lot of people around when she would be asked, so instead, I planned a surprise party for after the proposal. Gathering all of our close friends and family, without Pamela knowing, was no easy task. However, with everyone's help, I was able to get everyone at my parents' house at just the right time. After going out to dinner and then having a relaxing rest of the evening with beer and pool, I suggested we take a walk on the Legacy Trail behind my parents' house. As we were walking along the trail, we stopped to sit down on a bench, where I then asked her to marry me. She still had no idea that all of our friends and family were waiting to surprise her in my parents' backyard. We spent the rest of the night celebrating and will cherish the memories forever!
