How We Met

It all started with a swipe, well two to be exact.

Answer

After a few messages on Hinge, we decided to meet “in real life” to see if there was actually any interest. The decided meeting place was Crafted, a newer restaurant in Libbie Mill. Melissa was excited because that wasn’t her normal part of town so seeing someone she knew would be slim. Joel thought it was the perfect spot because it was approximately 1 minute from his house. Cocktails were ordered and we easily started chatting about travel and our favorite places we have been. We talked about our bucket list places that we hadn’t made it too yet. Greece and Italy ranked high for both of us, little did we know a year and a half later we would be checking Greece off our list together! During the evening, Joel may have mentioned a time or two that the Cincinnati Bengals were in the playoffs and how he was hoping for another trip to the Super Bowl after 30+ years. After that evening, we continued to chat and hang out, and Melissa may have even been slightly more interested in the playoff games that followed. The weeks and months went by, and things progressed. Dates turned into weekend trips, which turned into week long vacations. Spending time at each other’s homes turned into officially becoming “roommates”. Louise, Melissa’s dog, went from being ecstatic anytime Joel came over to Joel being her preferred lap to sit on to now favorite parent. As we all know when the dog’s hooked it’s over, and on August 6, 2023, with Louise’s permission things were made official.
