We met in our first 3D modeling class for our Film and Animation Degree at Rochester Institute of Technology, toiling away under the pressures of speed modeling. In the throws of Amanda's frustrations, a valiant, overconfident, and fearless hero stepped forth to remind her to breath. . . and save often. We started sitting next to each other in our classes and spent many nights in the computer labs, falling in love between computer crashes and trips to the vending machines for very stale PopTarts. Our supportive and enduring relationship got us through 3 more years of college and a global pandemic to graduate together in 2021.
Sweden has always held a special place in our heart. We visited Alex's Mormor's summer house on our first international trip together, and then visited again a few years later to explore Stockholm together with Alex's family. Amanda had been dreaming of celebrating Midsommer in Sweden for years, so in 2023 we planned a trip along with our best friend and maid of honor Grace to spend a week there and celebrate the summer solstice with Alex's extended family. After a few days at the summer house and then a few more in Stockholm, we traveled to a farm outside of Sigtuna, the oldest town in Sweden, where we celebrated Midsommer with people from the town and then had a more intimate gathering when the townspeople left. We got to play traditional games, eat traditional food, and learned all the maypole dances. At the end of the day, Alex suggested taking some sunset photos, and that's when he got down on one knee and popped the question! It was a beautiful day and one that we will never forget. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in August!
