The proposal
Allison and Thomas met on the first day of classes at Northeastern University. They had both just moved in to the 4th floor of East Village (themed around "Explore Boston"), and had rooms across the hall from each other. Allison needed to ask a question about one of the classes she was taking, and heard Thomas was also taking the same class. They met each other during a casual meetup in the dorm, and Allison introduced herself. It was love at first sight (at least for Thomas - Allison is more stand-offish). Thomas did his usual "I'm from Alaska - I hate it there" schtick and they engaged in some casual small-talk. Their friendship grew during college, including walking to the Boston Public Library together, movies at the AMC Commons, and general college shenanigans. Thomas even gave Allison a flower after her first theater performance in college (which neither knew was fake and tried to put in water). Allison realized her feelings for Thomas when she would not stop telling stories about "this guy from Alaska I know at college". Unfortunately, they could not get together because Allison was going to study abroad in Ireland. Thomas waited for six long, sad, lonely months until she returned in the dead of winter to Boston. Thomas asked Allison out, and they grabbed gelato at Eataly, followed a week later (because Allison was too nervous to respond to Thomas's texts) by a second date at the Museum of Fine Arts. From there, their relationship blossomed even more. Their study sessions became study *dates*, and they shared Cheesecake factory while watching Hannibal and Legion, and tried not to break up while playing through Portal together. Thomas came to all of Allison's performances, and they continued to explore Boston together. All was going smoothly for this couple, until the fateful month of March 2020. Allison and Thomas had made plans to hunker down together in their dorm until COVID passed, but their plans were ended when Northeastern announced all students were being kicked out. Thomas not having anywhere to go, and not wanting to be parted, they moved back in together to Allison's parents' house. It was probably one of the most difficult times in their relationship, but they made it through with lots of movies and snuggling in bed, and long walks around the neighborhood. And it was a great opportunity for Thomas to get to know Katie and his in-laws better. Ultimately, being stuck together for 3 months only made their relationship closer. Allison and Thomas continued to live with each other after college - up until Allison was accepted into medical school and had to move back to NY. They were heartbroken to have to be long-distance, but they went on exciting "last hurrah" trips to Disney World and snorkeling in Hawaii before Allison started med school. Long-distance was a hard change, but Thomas drove to NY nearly every weekend to see Allison. Over the course of her time in medical school, Thomas drove nearly 90,000 miles to spend time with Allison. She needs no further proof of his devotion to her. And for the record, Allison DID drive to Boston a couple times. Thomas decided to seal the deal with a proposal in front of the original entrance to the American Museum of Natural History. He proved his devotion once again by waiting in the cold for over an hour for her to show up (she got detoured by a raclette). But it worked out and now they're bonded for life and even adopted two axolotls together! Allison and Thomas are so excited to welcome everyone to their wedding celebration! They are so blessed that fate brought them together from across the country, and look forward to moving back in together after Allison finishes medical school. They can truly say they are each other's best friends and can't wait to grow old together.
