What is a Minimony?

Answer

A Minimony is a sweet word to describe a smaller, more intimate wedding that takes place on a planned wedding date. It's a mini wedding ceremony with all of the elements of a traditional wedding, just on a smaller scale. Unlike elopements, Minimonies require planning, preparation and aren't done in secret.

Why Joshua Tree?

Answer

We have spent a lot of time in Joshua Tree over the years and have always felt a sense of peace there. It's a magical place where we feel free and alive! We also enjoy nighttime long exposure photography, camping and hiking--and Joshua Tree is the perfect place to practice these hobbies.

Question

Why not wait until 2022 or 2023 to have a big, traditional wedding?

Answer

We have been together for nearly 6 years and never intended on having this long of an engagement. The timing of our engagement (January 2020) and the rise of the COVID pandemic soon afterward was unfortunate, and it derailed our plans to get married that same year. We didn't want to chance hosting a "super spreader" event, and we needed to lock in our plan at a time when the future trajectory of the global pandemic was uncertain. Watching our friends cancel, reschedule, and cancel again made us realize that we needed to pivot and look into more practical options. We fell in love with the idea of having a Minimony because we would be able to safely experience all of our favorite wedding traditions on a day that would truly be about us and our commitment to one another.

Will you be live streaming your ceremony?

Answer

Unfortunately, there is no cell reception or WiFi access in Joshua Tree National Park, so we will not be live streaming our ceremony. We will have a photographer who will be capturing our entire day--from us getting ready to post ceremony shenanigans. We can't wait to share our photos with you all!
