We’re getting married!

Winston and Maddie met at UNK— he played basketball, she played volleyball, and he swears he’s had a crush on her since day one. The problem? His freshman year was mostly spent in his dorm room playing video games. Maddie is 2 years older than Winston. When he was a freshman, she was on her 4th year of college volleyball. He eventually worked up the courage to add her on Snapchat his freshman year… only to get left on read by the Senior setter on the volleyball team. Defeated, he deleted her — but fate had other plans. Winston’s roommate was dating one of Maddie’s teammates at the time, and when Maddie mentioned to her teammate that she thought Winston was cute, he absolutely freaked out. He re-added her, she didn’t ignore him this time, and the rest is history… almost. COVID hit, sending Winston home, but they kept talking nonstop. Being two years younger, Winston was a little scared to make a move — until January 2021, when they hung out with the teammate and roommate trying to set them up. They played basketball in the Health and Sports Center. It was painfully awkward. Maddie even asked her teammate after, “Are you sure he even likes me?” Turns out, he did. Their next hangout was just the two of them, and from that day forward, they’ve been inseparable. Who knew a deleted Snapchat, a pandemic, and one awkward basketball game would lead to forever?
