My university experience wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Samson. He is a true gem, a friend who made those years truly special. From the moment we met in front of his hostel, I could tell how friendly he was, and the handshake felt like we had known each other for a very long time. One of the things that struck me about Samson was his unwavering passion for helping others, even at the expense of his own problems, what a guy ! He would go the extra mile to ensure he could lend a helping hand, which truly stunned me and made me see him as a selfless being. Beyond his generosity, Samson is also adventurous and a risk-taker. It was no surprise to see him excel in everything he did. I always knew him to be a go-getter who would never settle for anything less than the best. Samson is humble to the core, even after graduation, our friendship continued to flourish. Despite our lives taking us on different paths, we remained connected and supported each other. There is so much to say about Samson, we got to interacting about mid-2009. At the time, he was the class rep for Computer Science, and I was his Economics counterpart. He has always been goal-oriented and most importantly known for his rascality. He always stood his ground and was feared by many because of his intimidating voice. When I was vying for the position of Babcock University Student Association (BUSA) President. Samson literally carried me on his back, he was very influential in his department. He would campaign on my behalf and take me around his department ensuring I get the votes needed. I genuinely appreciate you and will forever be grateful for showing what a friend you are. I was a little shocked when Samson mentioned he was going to propose to Wini in 2019, I couldn’t unimagine/unsee the Samson I knew in college. I cleared my schedule and drove to Virginia to see him propose to his beautiful girlfriend. That was my first time seeing the romantic side of Samson, I have always known him to be the rough, tough and carefree guy. I thank God you found Christ early enough else only God knows where you will be by now lol. I appreciate the conversations we shared, and praying with and for me when I was getting ready to get married. I have watched how you selflessly look out for people and take care of your daughters. I want to thank Wini for bearing with you over the years and pray the love you both share will never wax cold in Jesus’ name. Congratulations brother.

There is the popular saying that “people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime” . I have tried to figure out which one it is with Samson as bro checks all the boxes. I thought bro was for the REASON box as he has assisted me through multiple difficulties to provide me with guidance and support, aiding me physically, emotionally or spiritually. Bro also checks the SEASON box because he had experienced some things before me and is able to share his experiences to help me grow and learn in certain critical areas, bringing me an experience of peace and making me laugh through otherwise challenging experiences. He surely taught me some things I had never done. Finally, bro checks the LIFETIME box as my relationship with him has taught me lifetime lessons I can’t learn in a classroom. These are things I must build upon to have a solid emotional foundation. My job has been to accept the lesson and put what I have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of my life.It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant, Samson is godsent to me as he has subconsciously answered my questions about life, relationships, career, and spirituality just with how he carries himself and lives his life, he’s an embodiment of The CLASSIC MAN and I am honored that he’s a part of me

Our story began in 2018, Samson and I met through a mutual friend, Jared, who is also happily married now. One day, Jared called me up and said, "Yo Tade, I have this friend who just moved to Richmond. He's a great guy but doesn't know anyone here. I think you two should meet." Knowing Jared's good judgment, I immediately agreed and asked him to share Samson's contact details. A few weeks went by, and in the busyness of life, I forgot to reach out. Then one day my phone rang and It was Samson. This first conversation was pivotal in shaping our friendship. He introduced himself, saying, "Hey, it's Samson, Jared's friend. I just moved here." We started chatting about our interests—language, neighborhoods, universities, and more. Samson mentioned he just wanted to connect and I'm quite particular about my personal space, but I also knew how challenging it can be to move to a new city and find your footing. Fast forward through months and years, Samson's free spirit and ginger nature made him, and eventually his entire family, an integral part of my life. We've watched each other grow, celebrated milestones together, and supported one another through thick and thin. Now, as he prepares to wed Winnie, I couldn't be happier for him. This upcoming wedding is a huge celebratory milestone for their family, and I'm grateful to be a part of it. Here's to many more years of friendship, joy, and shared memories.
