Sarah and Trent first met at Camp Mikell many years ago and became close friends working together on Summer Staff in 2014. They would confide in each other on a regular basis and had a genuine friendship. Their relationship continued to grow during the next summer (2015) and they began dating that July. They quickly found that they were unquestionably compatible and fell deeply in love. They have been together ever since!

Trent and Sarah planned to take a trip to a nearby driftwood beach, Botany Bay Wildlife Reserve on Edisto Island. Trent had a photographer hidden in plain sight and a letter written on a scroll carefully placed in a piece of driftwood for Sarah to find. After walking down the beach, Sarah found and read the letter, and Trent got down on one knee (in the wet sand) and proposed. Afterwards, they went to meet up with a "couple of friends" at a restaurant, and Sarah was surprised by both of their immediate families. Sarah claims it was the happiest day of her life!
