Here are some Frequently Asked Questions... please let us know if you have any other questions or need any help!
Question

What will the weather be like in June at Puerto Vallarta?

Answer

Average temperatures in June range from 73° – 90° F with moderate heat and humidity. June is paradise for swimming, snorkeling, and diving! However, it will be hot so please make sure to be mindful and stay hydrated!

Question

Will transportation be provided from airport to resort?

Answer

Yes! The newlywed couple will be providing roundtrip transportation for all of the guests to and from the airport/resort. Please send us your flight information when booked so we can coordinate shuttles appropriately. If you need other transportation while in Puerto Vallarta, Ubers are safe and cheap to get around for excursions if needed.

Answer

Yes, only for the wedding day on Saturday June 14, 2025. We are requesting beach formal wear. Fun beach colors and linen sets are welcomed! -For men: suits are welcome but not necessary, dress pants with a collared shirt is ok. Please remember that events will be held outside and it will be humid and hot. -For women: any dress/set in any color besides white or black Especially for men, if you'd like to change into a more "cooler" or "lighter" outfit such as linen, you are more than welcome to since the events are all held outside, and it will be very warm. We want you to be comfortable dancing all night! Women are also welcome to change if desired.

Question

How do we RSVP?

Answer

You can RSVP here on zola to let us know that you are planning on attending. Please let us know by March 1st. For your convenience, a block of rooms has been reserved at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit Resort. When you are ready to make your reservation, please contact Isabella or Connor via text/email and we will send you direct you to the special link. Email: ciwinemiller@gmail.com

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We are having an “unplugged” ceremony. This means we are asking that all phones and devices are put away and on silent/turned off during the ceremony. We have hired a professional photographer to capture this special day and we’d hate for our shots to have phones in them! After the ceremony is over, feel free to take as many photos as you would like during cocktail hour and the reception!

Question

Do we need to book dinner reservations and activities?

Answer

It is advised that you book dinner reservations for the restaurants on property prior to your stay, as well as any other excursions on property. Reservations are required at the 4 upscale restaurants - Piaf, Lucca, Frida and Sen Lin (this is because outside patrons come to also eat at these fancy restaurants). You do not need to make advanced reservations at our more casual eateries, including Azul, Koi Sports Bat or Selva del Mar. You can use this email to contact the concierge service to place your reservations: prearrivalconciergern@velasresorts.com

Question

Is Puerto Vallarta safe to travel to?

Answer

Yes, PV is very safe. In fact, it is safer than both Cancun and Cabo! Puerto Vallarta is one of the best resort towns on the Pacific coast of Mexico. Puerto Vallarta itself is a safe destination for travelers to visit. In fact, the city is safer than many cities in the United States... Puerto Vallarta has a lower crime index level and higher safety scale score than both California and Hawaii.  Just keep in mind, the same rules apply when you are traveling anywhere in the country/world. Do not venture out into the rural areas outside of PV on your own and always travel with someone else. PV is known to be safer than a lot of USA cities. It is safe to go on excursions with tour companies!

Question

Can I get dry cleaning or laundry services done at Grand Velas?

Answer

Yes! For a small fee, dry cleaning or laundry services are provided on site.

Question

Is it customary to tip?

Answer

As it is not required or expected, the staff certainly appreciates tips. You can tip in small cash either USD or pesos. You can exchange for pesos if you'd like at the resort. For example: Tipping a few USD for pool concierge is appreciated when they bring you drinks/food all day Tipping ~10% for meals is appreciated (for this you can simply write it on your "check" and they will keep track of it and add it to your bill at the end of the stay). P.S. you will still get a "check" or "bill" after meals but it will be "zeroed" out so you will not have to pay anything. We thought it was the easiest to tip in cash for pool concierge but easier to just add the tip to the bill for restaurants and etc.

Question

I have never been to Mexico... what should I expect?

Answer

During your flight to Mexico, you will need to fill out a customs form. Please make sure to bring a pen with you to fill this out. Only 1 per household will need to fill this out. You will need to know information such as your flight number, passport number etc. When you arrive to the airport, you will have to go through customs. Please do not bring any fruits or vegetables, including any seeds. After you go through customs, you will then go find your pre-arranged transportation. Exit the airport completely to the outside and look for the "Pacifico" bar on the right side. There, you will find our transportation that we have specially arranged for you. More information will be provided once you give us your flight details. P.S. there will be cab drivers and other vendors that will tell you that you need to stop inside the airport to arrange your transportation. Simply state "no thank you" and keep moving to go to the outside area mentioned above. These vendors are trying to gain your business to book a ride with them which is not necessary since we are taking care of this for you. If you'd like to have easier communication with others and especially to use with your complimentary personal concierge, please download "Whatsapp" application on your phone. Although iphones typically can communicate well with each other outside of the country, non iphones may be more difficult.
