Question

How do I get to Santa Barbara?

Answer

There is a small airport in Santa Barbara that is convenient to fly into. There are no direct international flights. While flying directly into SB airport is recommended, you can also fly into LAX and either rent a car or take the Airbus (https://www.sbairbus.com/) into Santa Barbara. Once in SB, you can book an Uber/Lyft to your hotel, take a taxi, rent a car, or coordinate with Sara and Eliot if you need a pick up. Car rentals are located within the airport and it is very easy and convenient to drive around the area. If flying into SBA, we recommend an app like Hopper to find a great deal. Only US airlines fly into SB, so if you're traveling from Canada and want to fly Air Canada, you will transfer to another airline someway along the route. We recommend checking out American Airlines and United Airlines for your routes. If driving into Santa Barbara, you can use Google Maps to determine your route. The 101 highway goes right through SB, so you really can't miss us. If you've landed in LAX, you can either book the airbus or take the Amtrak train up to SB. If you live in LA, the train is a convenient way to travel north. There are two stops in Santa Barbara (one in Goleta) so plan to get off closest to your hotel or pick up location.

Question

What is the easiest way to get around Santa Barbara?

Answer

Definitely the easiest way is with a car. Santa Barbara is not very big, but having a car will allow you to get from the beach to the mountains and everywhere else very easily. Car rentals are available from the airport or from other locations in downtown. Uber and Lyft are also easy and reliable ways to get around. They will even come up to Live Oak Campground, as it's only fifteen minutes away from the city. There is also a taxi service, but it's not very popular and you have to call to schedule a pick up. There is also public transportation that goes all across the city, but there is no subway, just buses. Their timing is somewhat reliable and routes are centralized, but no bus goes up and over the mountain to the campground. We are planning on having pickups/dropoffs at the hotels that people are staying at on the day of the wedding for those that don't have vehicles or would rather not drive. More info will come on this when the invitations are sent out in January.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Guests are asked to dress semi-formal, with elegant attire for the evening. We love a good occasion to dress up and would love to see our friends and family look their best! Guests are also encouraged to bring a warm layer as it can get chilly at night and the wedding is outdoors or in a covered pavilion.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We are limiting our guest list to those named on invitations. When you go to RSVP, you will be given the name of each person in your party or family to respond for, and if you've been extended a guest, the opportunity will be given when you RSVP to input their name. Please do not arrive at the wedding with guests you have not RSVP'd for.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes, of course! The property is very large but also very safe. Kids are welcome!

Question

Where do I stay?

Answer

As far as hotels, there's almost 100 of them in Santa Barbara, so prioritize what you're looking for; do you want to be close to us, close to the beach, or close to downtown? Keep in mind that SB is a destination city and a college town, and everything will book up early for the weekend of our wedding. We have provided three options for our guests at discounted prices; please have a look at the Places to Stay tab of the website for more information. For the hotels closest to us, we recommend The Leta or The Steward (discounts available for The Steward). These are nice hotels that have restaurants on the property and are less than a five minute drive from our house. If you're looking for the true Santa Barbara experience, you can book a hotel downtown on the waterfront along Cabrillo Blvd. We are offering a discounted rate at The Santa Barbara Inn, and there is also The Hotel Milo, which is a gorgeous, sprawling beachside hotel - and there are many, many others along the water that are less brand name and more humble but adorable. There are other, more affordable options such as The Ramada, Best Western (this one is our third discounted option) and several other motels that are quite cute, so if any of these larger hotels are out of your price range, check those other ones out. You can also find AirBnb's at local's homes, and there are some whole house vacation rentals close by in Summerland (about 20 min south east of the city) There are also RV rental options in the area if you want to stay up on the campground where the wedding is held, and you are welcome to camp up to two nights on the property (located 15 minutes outside of the city).

Question

Can I camp on the campground where the wedding is held?

Answer

Yes, you can totally camp up on Live Oak Campground where our wedding is held, but we are only allowed on the site for 2 nights (the Saturday before and Sunday of the wedding), and we don't yet know who else will be staying up there the night before the wedding or the night of, that info will come with the RSVP's. The site itself is beautiful, but there is no access to the lake. There is a bathroom facility with shower up there, but no other real amenities that you would have at a typical campground. The best campground to stay at for the length of your stay, if that's what you want to do, is to stay at Cachuma Lake Campground (https://www.campsitephotos.com/campground/ca/cachuma-lake/) which is 15 minutes further up the road (making it about a half hour drive from Santa Barbara). It's a full service campground with RV Hookups, cabin rentals, boat rentals, and more. If you want to camp, you can either rent a cabin or yurt at Cachuma Lake, or you can rent an RV through RVshare.com and have it delivered to Live Oak when we will have someone there to receive it (more info on that later). There are RV rental companies but they are located in either Ventura or Santa Maria - there are no proper rental companies in SB, just the local RV share.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

We will be registered and have a list through this website. We don't have a ton of things on our registry and would appreciate monetary gifts that help us plan for our honeymoon this summer.
